  1. Hi Guys...
This is my first post on the forum, but I've been reading for quite a while now...
    Ok here's the deal:
I want to move to another country to focus 100% on cycling - I've been looking at Girona (Spain), Les issambres (france- close to Nice) and Firenze (Italy).
What I'm looking for is a place with a lot of mountains to ride on and also lots of roads to ride on.
I don't know if the locations i mentioned is any good. Please throw in your two cents as I'm sure you guys know more about this than I do.

I'd be really happy if you could give me a few more locations to consider...

    Thank you very much.

In europe, I don't think you can go wrong with anywhere in Tuscany, including Florence.

But there are a lot of good cycling resources in Colorado

I would think that anywhere in

My good friend and I are willing to move with you and train with you full time if you will take care of the financial arrangements. 🙂

  4. I can confirm that Tuscany is a beautiful part of the world. If you are seriously considering Italy, also consider some of the less well-known areas that are not as popular with the foreign crowd - Umbria (well, it is more or less just as 'invaded' as Tuscany, but there are some real nice areas that remain very nice), Northern Lazio (closer to Rome, with the associated advantages and disadvantages), Abruzzo (a bit 'wilder' fewer people, very beautiful nature), and of course Veneto, one of the true homelands of Italian cycling (although the winters are not as mild).

BTW, I take it that money is not an issue? Finding a nice place to live somewhere is Tuscany is not an issue, if you can swing it financially...

  5. you all mention tuscany, but isn't tuscany relatively more flat than the other locations? Just for the sake of argument, lets say money isn't an issue...

It is more than just geography. Very cycling friendly place. great motorists, great climate, great cycling culture, some great ex-patriates to share experience and get acclimated (assuming you are not from Europe). Also great place to find cycling related employment with tour operators.

If money truly isn't an issue, then Italy is still the place, and you can't beat Tuscany for a break in point to the European cylcling scene. If you start there, you will make friends from Spain and France who can get you the lowdown of the great spots in those countries as well. There is a reason that the Italians at one point ruled the world. The food is incredible. They have a passion for cycling, they don't have an inate hostility to foreignors like the French. The Spanish are insane motorists, (which is also true as you get coloser to Romeand the food is not nearly as good, but the cyclists are pretty nice folks.
