  1. Nijs was taken out by a drunk spectator at the Jaarmarktcross today
breaking his bike into several pieces and forcing him to withdraw from
    the race.

At this rate they're going to end up banning beer altogether at these
    races.

Ok, I plan to jump out of the beer tent at Catamount Cross this weekend
and take somebody out. We'll show these Belgians who is boss.

I am now accepting offers on which rider to de-bike. Text me.

Gosh damn, I was thinking about a carbon cross bike, forget that now.
It fell to pieces hitting a human - I hit trees when I go crossing.
    Yeah, I suck, so what?

What a wuss. There's a perfectly good singlespeed in the
background that he coud have jumped on for the rest of
    the race.

No, they guy moved a security gate onto the road at the last moment.

You must be a repressed track rider trying to ride up a tree rather than a
wall. You could refer to the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. They may not
have a entry for riding a bicycle up a tree, but you could apply the
section on levitation and flying since similar principles probably apply.

That was what I thought the Dutch websites were saying. Was the race
televised and was the incident caught on tape?

  12. Quoted message said:

    Was the race televised

Not in Holland or on Flemish public tv, AFAIK.
(We don't get the Flemish commercial/satellite stations on cable.)

yah dont worry, I am not gonna mess with Sva. He is in Cali anyway,
fireman or something. Not that he has a violent bone in his gi-normous
    body anyway.

I may have to retract my offer anyway, I raced Catamount last night and
pulled a _groin_ muscle on the last set of barriers before the finish.
I did pass three people in the process, though. But today it is NOT
    good. There goes my weekend.

Particularly if you had a weekend with Paris Hilton on your schedule.

Actually people always laugh about groin injuries, but its not a
joke when it happens to you. I remember doing mine in a MTB crash on some
slippery mud once. When I got home it took me 5 minutes to hobble from my
    car to the house.

Great guy as you said. One of my favorite riders. Still wouldn't want
to get hit by him when he's sprinting.

That really sucks. Sorry to hear it. Hope it doesn't last all season.

Dumbass: get well soon. At least you wrecked it doing something you
love. How unironic that it should be a groin injury, eh?

Yes, but Donald, what is the key thing that you should notice about
    Jerry's story?

    It didn't happen to _me_.
