I am a casual rider looking to get involved with racing. Could anyone recommend resources with regard to taking riders to that step, i.e., clubs, coaches,etc.

Depending on your locale, there are probably riding/racing clubs in your area that would help with that. Either google it, or inquire at your local bike store.
Additionally, there are a few coaches on these forums that offer their services.
If you'd like to post your location, there may also be posters in your area who are familiar with the races and teams that you might want to contact.
