What is wrong with ARBR?

Well then 58 in 2 weeks makes me an antique, but I still love to run at
sprint speed and to stand and attack hills up to a few hundred feet.
That makes me more of an anomaly than an antique. I still have

I like the BROL boards, but I also like the idea of an unmoderated
forum. Sometimes I may want to speak my mind in ways that would sure
cause trouble over there. There have been cases where Bryan received
legal threats for stuff others posted to the board, and I don't want to
contribute to that. There is also the whole issue of decentralization.
Back in the pre-dolan days, most people knew that this was the place
to discuss all matters of related to recumbency. Now we have BROL which
for obvious reasons must be moderated, and we also have different web
forums for different manufacturers and even models. Easy Racers,
Bacchetta, RANS, and many other manufacturers used to hold their
discussions right here, but they now all have their own little
discussion boards. One had a better interaction with owners of
different bikes back when all the discussion was centralized.

Additionally, there is the issue of accessibility. If you go to Google
Groups and type "recumbent" or "recumbents", this is the group that
shows up. For new people, or people just not too familiar with BROL,
this group is a lot easier to find.

Another advantage is that USENET is based on a protocol rather than
located in a server. If for any reason the BROL server goes down,
either due to a technical or financial or natural disaster or even legal
issue, the board is gone. This cannot happen with
alt.rec.bicycles.recumbent. As long as the internet as a whole
continues to support the NNTP protocol, this group will continue to exist.

I'm sure Ed Dolan must feel really proud for being such an incredible
[censored] that nobody wants to deal with him. He is like the drunken guy
who walks into a bar and starts screaming and yelling at everyone's
face, and then wonders why everybody left, without ever realizing that
his behavior is what needs fixing, not the rest of the world.

All anyone ever had to do to avoid me was to keep their freaking liberal
political views off the newsgroup, but that they were never able to do that
and so I had to take them on. I insist on balance if nothing else.

However, I don't think Joao was ever guilty of any misdeeds on ARBR so I do
feel some empathy for him.

By the way, Mr. Byron Ball of BROL was one of the chief offenders and it was
my delight to take him to the woodshed for a good sound thrashing.

I NEVER interfere with on-topic messages and I note that Mr. Sherman does
not either. The main thing that others need to realize is that both Mr.
Sherman and I are the quintessential gentlemen. If you can't get along with
us, that means you can't get along with anyone unless you demand that others
agree with you 100% of the time about everything.

Anyone who can't take disagreement, however expressed, should not be on
Usenet in the first place.

I like the BROL boards, but I also like the idea of an unmoderated
forum. Sometimes I may want to speak my mind in ways that would sure
cause trouble over there. There have been cases where Bryan received
legal threats for stuff others posted to the board, and I don't want to
contribute to that. There is also the whole issue of decentralization.
Back in the pre-dolan days, most people knew that this was the place
to discuss all matters of related to recumbency. Now we have BROL which
for obvious reasons must be moderated, and we also have different web
forums for different manufacturers and even models. Easy Racers,
Bacchetta, RANS, and many other manufacturers used to hold their
discussions right here, but they now all have their own little
discussion boards. One had a better interaction with owners of
different bikes back when all the discussion was centralized.

I agree that an unmoderated forum is preferred, but we have a
father/son duo that pretty much ruined this place. In addition we have
some other babies who seem to like to agitate the father/son combo and
that has helped cause the destruction of ARBR.

In the few recumbent posts here since the father/son duo took over I
really haven't seen a recumbent post that would have been censured on
BROL.

That is why every so often when I come here I mention BROL (

this board most will find more complete answers to their problems
