  1. Hello,
I'm new to the site and am seeking some advice on buying a road bike - my first "really good" one (my old one is a 1980s model bought from a friend's husband!). I've been advised to go with either the Fuji Roubaix or the Schwinn Fastback, which is a little more expensive. Does anyone have experience with these bikes that might help me with the decision? I live in a hilly region (San Diego) so anticipate doing long, hilly rides. I'm also training for my first century.

    Thanks!

  2. Both of those bikes you mentioned are very good. Take a nice long test ride on them and see which one sings to you. As long as the bikes fit you good, you should be O.K. If you plan on riding hills, maybe you should consider a triple chain-ring bike. Talk to your bike shop, ask specific questions relative to your needs.

Personally, the Fuji Roubeaux may be more bang for the buck. Whatever you decide, try to get at least "105" components.

    Enjoy

  3. Thanks for your advice, Wino Ryder...By the way, what are 105 components? I guess I can research that on the Internet as well.🙄
