Someone wake up Sheldon and tell him that his website's down. Dang it,
man! I need my fix!
Just in time for Interbike, too...

I'm all too well aware that the site is down. It's at least 30 hours
now!
Netcetra, the hosting company sez they've localized the problem to
their internal firewall, and are working to either fix the firewall or
put us on a new virtual server.
They promised the problem will be resolved by 5 Eastern time.

Could you pluck a feather out of that bird instead?
😉
Networks can be a pain.

Dear Sheldon,
It's 10:40pm EST, and www.harriscyclery.com at 64.62.166.78 still
fails to ping, much less provide me with oodles of free bicycle info.
But you probably know that.
Sorry for your troubles.
Cheers,
Carl Fogel

Web site down on a summer's night.
Kill my ISP. Kill my ISP.
Watchdog barking. Do he bite?
Kill my ISP. Kill my ISP.
Slip in his window. Break his neck.
Then his house I start to wreck.
Got no reason. What the heck?
Kill my ISP. Kill my ISP.

Sheldon's site is down.
We are lost without our guide.
Darkness hides our path.

Our Website http://sheldonbrown.com/ http://harriscyclery.com/ has been
down mostly since Thursday morning September 14.
According to the folks at Netcetra, who host our "virtual server" it
was attacked by a criminal who hoped to steal credit card numbers, and
managed to hack the passwords and enter the site. Fortunately, there
were no credit card numbers on that site (we use a separate, securely
encrypted site, http://harriscyclery.net for our shopping cart system.
That site uses the Verisign system and there is no reason to believe it
is vulnerable.)
Our main site is being rebuilt by Netcetra, and will probably be moved
to a new, more secure server.
Very sorry for the inconvenience, but repairs are proceeding as fast as
they can.
Fortunately, email is still working, both my personal email: captbike
(at) sheldonbrown.com and the order department at the shop: order (at)
harriscyclery.net
You also can still access our online catalog at
http://harriscyclery.net
Thanks for your patience...

Oh Captain, my Captain!
Hope this gives you plenty of time to ride the Greenspeed.
That is, if your leg has healed.
Please tell Norm that i love the Rohloff that he installed on the GT5.
Everyone else likes it, too.
Hope the server "heals' soon.

Just about to head out the door on the Greenspeed now, going to the
library and maybe farther, depending how I feel.
I'm pretty much restricted to the trike in my present condition...last
time I rode a two-wheeler , a couple of weeks ago, it was pretty
scary...
Thanks for your concern.
