Bad idea. The threaded portion of the steerer is substantially weaker than a non-threaded steerer.
Why don't you just use a threaded to non-threaded adapter. It's a steerer tube with an anchor bolt
that you can clamp an unthreaded stem on. I've used one for about a year and it's been fine,
although not fancy. The only downside is that you don't get much adjustability.

1. Buy a threaded headset

or

2. Buy a threadless fork
