  1. just out today on a nice CTC ride through Ashdown Forest we ( a bunch
of 6-7 one or two abreast) were yelled at by a very knowlegable
passenger in a car (with one of those brown dogs, sorry breed escapes
me) "Single File". I normally always adopt single file when there is a
queue of cars behind (and usually before) but did he have any legal
basis behind his very knowlegable comment?

The Highway Code says you should ride in single file on busy or narrow
roads - that's a 'should' rather than a 'must', so not something that is
likely to result in prosecution unless you live in Telford.

Depends whether or not he's been certified, or his name is Bruce

    John B

Thanks; this was neither, we were only aware that there was anyone
behind us when he passed us at not particularly high speed (OK in
Southern England on a Sunday any road could be classed as busy). Good
thing he wasn't driving down the road with a nervous horse later; he
might have been ooh... 2 minutes late.

Other than perhaps he should have been legally sectioned?
