  1. '04, '05 model bikes. Which would you prefer and why?

This would be my first bike so I can't really tell any of the big differences. And testing them isn't really an option where I am at.

    Thanks

Both groupsets are very good. The only thing that separatees them is the difference in the ergonomics, and that is a personal preference. I like the feel of the Shimano shifters better, but many people like the Campagnolo shifters better. There is no right or wrong. Both do what they are supposed to do and do it very well. If you cannot try the bikes you are considering, can you not at least try someone else's bike with Shimano and Campagnolo shifters to see what feels best to you? That is the only way to make the choice that is right for you.

The Campag' equipment has an 'Italian feel' about it. Furthermore, every component can be purchased separately, which means if you crash your bike and break a lever, you can buy a new Campag lever (ie, you don't have to buy the whole 'brifter' assembly).
