After a prang a couple of moths ago that resulted
in a bent dérailleur hanger I decided to make a tool
to fix it, following the design of (for example)
the Park tool
http://www.parktool.com/products/detail.asp?cat=48&item=DAG%2D1
I could have bought one but they're expensive
and hard to get hold off.
Anyway, I finally got it finished and took
delivery last night. There are some pictures
at
http://wwwstaff.murdoch.edu.au/~dfarrow/
and click on "cycling" in the second paragraph.
In the end, I didn't do that much myself. I don't
have much metal work stuff in my workshop. I got
my Dad to turn up the head piece (he has a metal
lathe) and a mate of a mate to do the welding.
Pretty time consuming in the end. Had to go on
a treasure hunt to find a bolt in Perth with the
right thread. Had to wait for Aussie post for the
head piece from Adelaide and then it disappeared
while it was getting welded together. I did hacksaw
the handle though and insert white plug in exposed
end.
