Speedplay cleat question:fore-aft adjustability

Does anyone know if the newer snap shim cleat baseplate offers more fore-aft adjustability than the older cleats or is it the same? I have a new pair of Specialized road shoes, and the problem is that I cannot get the slimline cleat to mount far enough back on the shoe to properly position my foot in relation to the pedal spindle. Basically I want to know if a new set of cleats will fix the problem or if this shoe will just not work for me.

I had this problem too wit hmatching the speedplay zero cleat to a new Vittoria shoe.
The solution is a thin CNC milled aluminium shim that allows you a greater range of adjustment. It's available from Cyclefit and look under the Specialist Fittings section.
Steve does ship these to a few places in the US so send him an email and see how you go.

Sounds like exactly what I need but at $140 AUD, I could nearly get a whole different pair of shoes.
