american classic 420's

i actually never used it before. but my team is sponsored by american classic and many of my teammates use 420s and i heard alot of good things. those are light and aerodynamic. of course we get them wheels really cheap so i guess no one really complained. 🙄

I know you're asking about the 420's which I have never ridden, but I do have 2 sets of 350's and I love them to death.

American Classic is a great company and I also use there BB and Headset, so I'll go ahead and vouch for there quality, and for an aero wheel the 420 is pretty light in comparison to other companys.

roadbkereviews.com I've only heard/read good stuff(apart from 1 unhappy camper!). Very light for a stronger wheel and they look good too - especially without the stickers.

You mean aside from all the hub recalls. It's like clockwork. Every year they claim they fixed the hub problems of the previous year and every year they have a new recall. Their hubs are dogshit.

Go to roadbikereview's components forum and search for American Classic. You'll see what people's real experience is.

I've just been reading about them in roadbikereviews 3.8 out of 5.0. Mostly 4 -5 out of 5 but at least two 1 out of 5 to drag the score down.
On balance - very good value for a lightweight, training/racing wheel.

i might agree, ive only seen a few AC wheels, i was not impressed with the hub. there was also a recall again on them just a few weeks ago... AC hubs and some ritchey hubs (AC made them)

Don't read the reviews. RBR has a poor selection of reviews. Go to the components forum and search for American Classic, or find an bike shop that deals AC and will give you an honest opinion.

AC has crappy hubs; they have decided that marketing their hubs as being light is more important than adding the twenty or thirty grams it would take to make a durable product. The rim itself is very thin and easily damaged, especially if you weigh more than the average cyclist.

Could you point me to a website with information on the new recall. The only one I have been able to find is the 2005 recall that affected the rear hub.

i dont know if it's on there website, i work at a dealer and saw the sheet come in the mail about 2- 3 weeks ago... ill see if i can find it and see exactly what the problem was
