OT Newsreader?

If you have Outlook Express, like I do, you can use it.

Setting it up for newsgroups is quite easy.

before you did

[user]-$ sudo make install

Peronally I think sudo is the work of satan, and always have it disabled. If you're going to do
something as root, you ought to have to type the root password just to remind yourself it's
dangerous.

apart from the vuris vulnerabilities of OE, my biggest complaint against it is that it autoharvest
email addresses. as soon as you reply to a message, it puts the address in the address book. THis
addressbook is then used by the viruses. If not so many addresses were in the addressbook, the
viruses would have fewer places to go.

Posts. I haven't got round to trying to analyse what each active poster uses and then count by
users. It would be an interesting challenge... of course you could only count unique from addresses,
and some users vary their from addresses. And of course it would completely miss lurkers.

Well, you clearly don't actually need to, although it does depend on a lot of gnome libraries. I
tried it last night but it didn't immediately grab me; I'll stick with the gnine o'clock gnus.

Sudo reminds me well enough. If I log in as root, I may forget that I did so, and end up doing user
stuff as root.
