I quite like mine. Sometimes it is a bit disconcerting and makes me
wonder if my back tyre has gone flat, but it does help mitigate thise
spine-jarring shocks you can get from an unexpected pothole in the dark

I have suspension seat posts on both my current bikes and am quite happy
with them. I am not lightweight and have found that on a bike without
such a seatpost I can become a bit bruised in the sitbone areas after
longish rides.

I've got a telescopic one - it stops the saddle from kicking you in the
bum too hard when you're sitting down over big bumps, but it doesn't
really make any difference when you're riding hard because you're either
out of the saddle or taking most of your weight on your legs anyway.
Thudbusters look cool, but at a price.

They're not really suspension, just something to take a bigger knock out
of the road surface.

I have one, and for what it does, I like it. Most of the time you don't
know its there and then *BANG* and you think "[censored]. I'm glad I had that
suspension seat post!"

Lateral travel can be an issue, mine needs tightening every few months
or so, sunno what models other people use.

Point to bear in mind if you like your saddle set a long way back:

Most suspension posts don't let you do this as they are "inline". The few
"setback" ones apparently don't work as well the inline ones,
suspension-wise.
