OCR zero 2006 model worth buying? My first post =)

Ah, its not a massive post. It really depends on what you want to use it for. If you really enjoy riding when you start again, and you want to race, the TCR anything will be a better go. It doesn't even have to be a Giant. But if you are looking for recreation more than anyhting, the OCR should be good for a few races here and there. It isn't spec'd badly for $1700 either, but the frame won't corner as well, or make you as aero, as somehting with a racing geometry.

I"m not a triathelete but more of an enthusiast who likes good speed as well as a nice scenic ride. this bike retails in australia for 2300 but I can get it for 1700 (australian dollars). If there are any other bikes that are you think are superior and highly recommended please let me know. I seriously feel lost in the road biking industry at the moment.

I ride in two totally different areas. One has clean pool table smooth bike lanes and frame material is not that important. The other has roads so bad, you think you are in Mexico, in fact the store signs are only in Spanish. Here, all carbon is the choice because of it's ability to absorb shock and vibration. The other thing to consider, is traditional vs compact/sloping top tube frames. And geometry, quick steering vs slower steering.

The Trek 5.2 s.p.a is really nice. Comfort road bike with rubber dampening suspension. I have a Giant OCR 1 though.

I'd have a look at the TCR, you won't notice the difference in the position if your fitted well (eg. if you wanted to be more upright, you could still get this position on the TCR.), the smaller wheelbase will give you sharper more responsive handling, comfort is still very good.( I have a TCR advanced team). It would be faster given the racing geometry and would be a little bit lighter depending on what models you would be comparing. As your'e from Melbourne, shop around an you should get some bargins from the 2006 TCR range as the new 2007 models will be arriving soon. CBD cycles have a good range of Giants, Pro-Motion in Ormond has apparantly opened a Giant only shop.
