  1. National Standards Cycling Instructors will be aghast at the prosecution
of Daniel Cadden as it goes against all the principles of the
Instruction and has far reaching consequences for the training of all
    cyclists.

HAMPSHIRE CYCLE TRAINING CALLS FOR CYCLING INSTRUCTORS
TO SUPPORT THE CYCLISTS' DEFENCE FUND

Following the prosecution of a cyclist for riding to approved National
Standard Cycle Training advice, Hampshire Cycle Training is supporting
the calls by the Cyclists' Touring Club, the national cyclists'
association, to support the Cyclists Defence Fund (CDF).

The CDF is an independent charity founded by the CTC in 2001 to support
court actions that may compromise the rights of cyclists on the roads.

Daniel Cadden was found guilty of obstructing other traffic by correctly
positioning himself in the traffic stream, which led to drivers
overtaking by crossing a white line. Rather than prosecute the drivers
who were breaking the law, the police bizarrely chose to prosecute
Daniel for not using a cycle track.

John Buckley, founder and lead instructor for Hampshire Cycle Training
is donating 10% of all the organisations training fees for the next two
months to the CDF and hopes other National Standard Instructors may
    follow suit.

District Judge Bruce Morgan seems more intent on removing cyclists from
the roads than any in improvement in driving standards or cyclists'
    safety.
