so wife and i go for a long ride yesterday. i am riding my veloz its a flat bar road bike a few years old with about 1000 kms on it. it has upgraded tires 100 to 130 psi. it has the stock wheels on it which are not great but are pretty good. i start with a flat. about 25 kms later i get another. the rim tape is blowing out through the spoke holes. so i am patching the rim tape. and then another flat, different hole but the same thing. running out of tubes. only brought 3 and the patch kit. and using the patch kit to repair the rim tape. stop in white rock to buy more tubes. and i end up wrapping the rim in electrical tape twice and then putting the rim tape with all its holes back on as well. i might add one of the holes blew twice. i felt the spoke holes and they did not seem sharp or rough at all. so i will take it apart again sand the little holes and rewrap with tape. has anybody ever experienced this? and i learned that a role of electrical tape is a good item to bring with ya.

If you're having spokes come through the rim tape, then there's something wrong with the wheel build (a problem with the nipples perhaps). I'd bring the wheel to your LBS and have them take a look at it. You're probably better off not riding it until you have it checked out. This is the rear wheel I assume? Also, do your wheels have a max. allowable tire pressure?

the rims are double wall. and the spokes are not poking through. the hole where the spokes do go through is blowing out. and it is the rear tire. i weigh about 145 lbs and the max tire pressure is 130.
