I'm just trying to get into cycling (as is everyone else in this section of the forum). I have been reading some posts about what type of bike people should start with etc.
I have compiled that for beginners some good bikes are:
Felt F90 Specialized Allez Trek 1500
I'm looking to stay around $1K.
I am not opposed to buying used or new. I was wandering if anyone here could provide some insight into what bikes would be good for a beginner, the ones listed above and others you have to offer. Also, info on used bikes would be appreciated like where to buy them etc.
Felt F90/80 triple is a good start, it has a very good geometry. However, more important is bike fit, some brands will suit you and fit you better than others. make sure the shop fits you properly to the right size bike.
I went to one shop and they mainly sold Trek. I do plan to go to a few different shops. (seeing as this one was a chain) I plan to go to some local shops.
I understand the fitment issue you proposed. However, is the Trek 1500 a decent bike? furthermore is $1050 a good price for that ride? (Yes I know that you are from AUS) so the question is proposed to others as well.
I just bought a trek 1500 myself have not picked it up yet but looks like a nice bike.I paid $1070.00 with tax out the door brand new. This is my first road bike been mountain biking for many years.I belive all the manufactures are pretty close in quality it's just a matter of fit and comfort for each rider.Enjoy the new ride.
