  1. Bouyed by the BBC forecast of sun and the weather of the past two weeks,
went off to the Lake District on Monday for some off-road riding but
    chickened out ;-(

The view from the car window occassioning that decision was:
    http://cycling.raven-family.com/Videos/Rain.mp4 (low res; 257kb)
    http://cycling.raven-family.com/Videos/Rain2.mp4 (higher res; 895kb)

I think the trip was aptly described by:

It rained and rained and rained and rained -
The average fall was well maintained
And when the tracks were simply bogs
It started raining cats and dogs

After a drought of half and hour
There came a most refreshing shower
And then the queerest thing of all
A gentle rain began to fall.

Next day was also fairly dry
Save for the deluge from the sky
This wetted people to the skin
And after that the rain set in

We wondered then what next we'd get
As sure as fate we got more wet
But soon we'll have a change again
As we shall have a drop of rain.

If you could get those nice lakes *just* by piddling, the southeast
    wouldn't have a water shortage!
