Will a shimano dura ace rd-7800 (10 speed rear derailluer) work with Shimano STI 7700 9-speed shifter/levers?
can someone describe the "mechanical" difference between shimano rd-7800 and rd-7700?

99% sure it will work. (works on my bike as a 9 speed derailleur)
The Dura Ace 7800 derailleur is made for 9 and 10 speeds.
I have no idea in the difference between the 7800, and the 9 speed only 7700. It might have something to do with the body, and how much the derailleur swings. Or something with the pulleys... Don't know.

It will work fine. You just have to stick to 9 speed until the levers are changed.

Ya i'll second that i had all Shimano 7800 group apart from the sti's which were 7700 9 speed work fine.
