The pedal threads are mirror images and work in opposite directions.

"Left and right pedals have left and right threads respectively, and

which way to tighten or loosen pedals, use the rule that rotating
"forward" (as the wheels of the bicycle do) tightens and rotating

Off is toward the back of the bike. Tight is toward the front. That applies to
both pedals.

The worst part is how tight you get the left one before you realize which way it
goes.
