Please help me, anyone, I need some advice. For the last 2 years I completly bonk at the end of October, just in time for the cross season here in N.C. I am super fit, super fitness usually comes in June, I race all cross country (MTB) and on the road a little all spring and summer, then October rolls around and I completly fall apart, and really struggle in cross races. My sittng down doing nothing heart race in the summer is usually around 49 b.p.m. at the end of October its about around 62-63 b.p.m.
General question....advice? I was thinking of just saying the hell with it and completing resting in September and October justing soft pedaling 3 or 4 times a week...never getting my heart rate up to any high intensity zones. My last MTB race is October 1st... this will be the only time I will see zone 5 during this time. Advice, suggestions? How can I keep the fitness I have now and still have it at the end of Octber-Dec?

Thanks for any suggestions....Dale 🙁
More info! What's your training like leading into this, how do you typically train during 'cross season, etc?
I suspect the best plan will be simply train more...maybe take a late season break in mid august and then re-start fresh for 'cross season.
