Road Trip Advice

D'ville is the best riding
I've done since I've been
here. There are just so many
options . . any type of riding
you want. It's also a nice
little town to chill out in.
Campgrounds nearby as well,
with the Yuba to cool off in.

It's basically hot as hell
during the summer, so I
imagine that September would
be great weather.

Depending on how you come up,
there are also some shorter
rides you could work in closer
to the bay area on your way
up. You could also hit Tahoe
on the way out.

If you decide to hit
Downieville, I can share what
trail experience I have there . .

I take a bike trip up Highway 395 every summer with the finial destination
of Lake Tahoe. From Orange County I can get to Mammoth Lakes in 6 hours,
then a hiking side-trip into Yosemite, then 3 hour drive to Lake Tahoe.
This year I am leaving second week in September.

One day is all I need at the Mammoth Bike Park, then off to Yosemite. When
you pass Mono Lake on the way to Tahoe it is not that far (Tioga Pass) into
Tuolumne Meadows and hiking up to Cathedral Lake....oh my...a must do hike.
I spend most of the time in Tahoe...there are so many riding options, it
would take most of the summer to cover them all...I have not had a bad ride
in Tahoe yet, just beautiful. The shuttle from Mt. Rose to Spooner Lake
"Flume Trail" is a most do.

If I waited until October I would think about a St. George, Thunder Mountain
(Bryce Canyon), Flagstaff, Sedona Trip. Since my sister lives in Prescott,
Az....I am a constant winter guest...Sedona is a special place.
