If he works it right, his lack of bluster could be his star quality. Being
the anti-Armstrong is the best way for Landis to replace Armstrong. And,
quite by chance, he is getting help from the man himself through Armstrong's
recent round of press miss-steps. As Armstrong's public life must now be a
battle to avoid becoming a B-grade celebrity, he has shown a new level of
vindictiveness towards the sport that got him where he is, attacking the
governing body of cycling, the European press, and his own former teammates.
Landis, good-natured and low-key, cannot help but be a breath of fresh air
to fans.
