Yeah, and in bigger cities like Vancouver it is no problem since they clean
the streets once a week. Surrey is a huge let down.
I do not think carrying a blower with me on my rides would suffice as it is
all over this city. a little awkward : ) happens continually too.

No, I use Schwalbe Marathon Plus (Kevlar) and haven't had a problem since.
Even had a 1/2 inch long metal piece 1/3 stuck in and didn't get a flat.

I take the same route to work by bike or car. Twice I have rememebred
to take a broom in the car and stop by some bad sections for a quick
sweep.

I tried to get them to resurrect a stop sign that fell over on a down hill
(bike trail) into busy traffic and they did not respond for six months.
So much for weeding me out of their traffic plans. har har har

I did try to give them that kind of motivation. They are lucky nobody got
hurt that knew who to sue, if any.

about the bike trail maintenance there is no such thing
I got to report it to street maintenance though and they will pass it on to
park maintenance. Seeing is believing. Will not hold my breath. I am
going to see how long it takes them to see if it is worth waiting next time.
Have broom will travel rides again.

it drives me nuts... some of the bike lanes have busted glass and all
kinds of [censored]. One of them is really bad... broken glass everywhere.
It's like Kristallnacht happened and no one told me about it!

It's more like a Dustbuster with a near-dead battery; doesn't pick up
much, and bounces over or pushes aside most of what it encounters.

one centimetre of Smart Guard cushioning between the tube and surface.

I've contemplated it. But as someone mentioned downthread, most of my
bikes have the Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires, so I can pretty much ignore
glass.

I had do do just this to deal with an [censored] that was smashing vodka
bottles on our MUP earlier this year. The glass was in areas
inaccessible to motor vehicle so I needed to get a sweeper in by bike.
After some searching I found a collapsible sweeper at Home Depot that I
cut down so it would fit on the bike rack. It worked well and I was
able to clean up some annnoying gravel accumulations as well.
