I tried a Rogers on Friday after hearing people rave about it. I can't say I was that taken by it, it was a bit tasteless.
On that note, are there any decent pubs/beers in Sydney? I'm heading over there for the rest of the week and would like to sample the exotic delights of the other side of the country. Or is there anything bike related worth seeing on Saturday?
My favourite pub in Sydney is the Australian Heritage up in the Rocks (I think it is Harrington St, opposite the basketball courts). They have Little Creatures on tap as ell as a host of other beers. It may get a bit "backpackerish" at weekends. Just around the corner is the Belgian Pub and up the road is the Palisades which has not changed since Adam was a boy. To get to it you have to pass the Lord Nelson which has its own micro brewery. I too was disappointed with "rogers", I believe they have a new beer called Bright but cannot find it.

You could also try the Redoak Beer Cafe at 201 Clarence St (just across the road and up a bit from Clarence St Cycles, as it happens...)
At the Redoak they do great sampler plates of meat / fish or vego taster plates and the beers are well worth a try and not bad value (unlike Clarence St Cycles, who work at the big end of the profit margins - nice gear, just buy it elsewhere)

As for local Sydney beer, you can't go past the James Squire range (though my poison of choice is South Australian ...)

You do not have to pass it directly on the way to the Palisades, walk through it very slowly

Australian Hotel in the Rocks has Scharer's Lager on tap. This is a genuine German lager, brewed in Picton by Geoff Scharer. An absolute must.
