I've seen that page, but don't see anything there to indicate that the
two-way radios or the earpieces used with a two-way radio such that the
cycling team uses.

It looks like the wireless applications they're talking about interface
with their hearing aids and aren't two-way applications.

But, I could be wrong. You still weren't funny, though.

This is right. My former Director of Studies is profoundly deaf, having
fallen off a mountain and severed both his aural nerves (don't try this
at home, children). He now - twenty-five years later - has an implant
inside his skull wired directly into the aural nerve. The transmitter
aerial sits behind his ear, and the distance between transmitter and
receiver is about 4mm. Of skin and bone, admittedly, so the range in
clear air might be a bit further, but still...

If you want not funny, a couple of years ago when Robin Williams was at
the
Tour de France, the French TV person asked him to "do his schtick", and
part of it consisted of talking like a hearing impaired person slurring
his
speech while saying "I ride for Phonak". The result was a deafening
silence as people were trying to figure out if they understood him
right.
Hopefully, he didn't become buddies with Landis during his visits to US
Postal,
and won't be around the Tour to cheer him on.
