Just wanted to say after 4 months training I managed to cycle from London to Lands End, and now I have the bug to do another long trip. I like the idea of Lands End to John O'Grotes but would like to know your views and experiences like is it best to start in Cornwall or Scotland? etc etc

Look forward to you replies.
Thanks Steve
How many miles was the ride to Land's End from London?
So you are asking which end you should start at? If so I guess the answer depends on which is more practical. How would you get to the start from where you live and how would you get home from where the ride ends? Sounds like you live near London, so may be you should ride from there to john O'Groats and jump on the train to come back home. Or you could ride to Land's End, stay a few days to rest then ride to John O'Groats then jump on a train home. That would give you some serious bragging rights 😉
I'd love ride in Scotland one day. But I am content with century rides here in California. One day I'll ride from one end of the CA to other. I'd not want to do it solo. I need to get some friends to join me.

I can assure you that riding in Scotland just now is absolutely fantastic. Rolling hills, lush vegetation, quiet single track roads and high 20 degree heat with cloudless skies. This is not always the case though 😄

The route was supposed to be 440 miles but I ended up doing 475 (managed to get lost on the odd occation and the hotels I was staying at were sometimes a mile or two off my route. And yes I am from London way, Essex to be exact.
Do you know how many miles it is from San Fran to LA? I've heard of a cycle route along the coast and wondered what it was like?

San Francisco to Los Angeles is about 350 miles. I haven't done it, but this book is highly recommended. BicyclingthePacificCoast Tom Kirkendall

Yeah, I bet the sprinklers fire up once in a while to keep the vegetation lush 🙂 But that would be OK. It is worth getting wet.
