Hi all, so I have my rims and hubs sorted. Are spokes spokes spokes??
I have Mavic 729 disc rims and DT 440 hubs, the brakes on the bike are 200mm Hayes hydraulics so I want STRONG spokes too 🙂
Since I have absolutely no idea about spokes I'm here, whats the go re good spokes?? Good brands etc??
Is there any point in getting double/triple butted spokes? or is it better to get good quality single butted spokes??
Cheers Dre
I built all my DH wheels with straight gauge spokes (14). The rims don't last long enough to justify anything more expensive.
Mike
Okay so I've done a bit of looking around on the DT site (they have a very cool calculator).
Would the Aldine III spokes be ok/overkill/[censored]???
I filled in their calculator and I got weight ratings of 1119g for the front wheel and 1224g for the rear, does that sound about right for a DH wheel?? (I know, how long is a piece of string 🙂

Righto, well after a trip down to the LBS for some info, I have decided to get the DT's. I ordered 66 Apline III spokes (2 spare) which should be here early next week.
All parts are now sorted, I just have to *wait* till they all arrive... This is going to be the hard part 🙂
