so heres the story. i am going to spain next week to race in cadete (U16 races). in spain the rule is that the biggest cog on the cassette has to be 16 teeth. the only cassette i could find which had this was 10 speed, my current setup is 9 speed. i dont have the time/money to replace my whole groupset, is it possible to get my LBS to adjust the gears so i cannot use the 27 granny gear (which im not going to use anyway) and thus make it a 9 speed setup, i would also need a new 10 speed chain as well i think, i dont really know much about gears and equipment, i normally just get the LBS to do my bike for me but is what im saying possible?

Ever thought about building your own cassette?

It can work, but you'll need something like a Shiftmate to correct for the difference in cable throw.

thanks for the tips. do i need to have different hubs for a 10 speed cassette? are there anymore things i need to think of? can anyone offer me a detailed description of how to do it? any help would me most appreciated! thanks
