Is it just me, or is it difficult to find bike shorts with a chamois pad that goes up far enough in back to cover the sitbones, and that go up far enough in front for some modesty? In other words, do some brands of shorts have a longer chamois pad than others? I have tried on a few pairs that just don't begin to cover my sitbones.

Placement, where its sewn in, has as much to do with this as overall size/length of the chamois. I recently tried and returned some Cannondale Domestique made in China shorts. Chamois was sewn in way to the front so there was too much padding in front where its not needed. And of course there was no padding underneath in the back. I noticed a person wearing some Nike brand shorts that had the chamois clearly sewn towards the back, padding was under the sitbones. Noticed because I was drafting. Did not notice or even attempt to see how the chamois was placed in the front.
