I haven't been on my bike for a couple of months, reason being as I was riding in summer in t-shirt and shorts and I'm a little wary that this won't be warm enough in winter especially when I'm sweating and have to stop. I've been doing some investigating and come across Ground Effects bicycle clothing which looks like pretty good stuff. Does anyone have experience with this clothing and have any suggestions i.e cadence or submerino. Also, I'm looking at buying a Trek 520 and I would appreciate any opinions on this bike as an allround bike, either by owners or anyone in the know.
I have a pair of Ground effect Sputniks, knicks, and they are great will probably upgrade to the next level knicks next winter.
Also just got a Cadence top a couple of weeks ago for winter riding, and so far it is fantastic. First days out went through a shower and din't notice any water getting throug, although it is not a water proof top, but it did stay warm and dry. The material is a type of fleece, so be aware of that if you don't like the idea of wearing a fleece like material while riding.
Snd delivery and contact with Ground Effect is great. No worries about ordering through mail order, if worried about sizing just call them and discuss. Delivery to Melbourne was just a few days.
What time of the day are you usually riding? The cadence looks good for the job but is it going to be too hot for the middle of a fine winter's day?
Anytime from 5.30am through to 6.00pm, the zip is about a 2/3 zip so you can cool off easily, i first tried with a top under, but found this too warm and so now just wear a vest on the out side. And it wicks moisture fairly well. It would not be easy to pull the sleeves up though, for me anyway as the wrists are fairly tight, but not elastic.

I am using a Frosty Boy top with Daddy Long legs. The beany is great for keeping the ears warm and just fits under the helmet. Long figered gloves stop the hands from siezing up. My wife likes the knicks but I prefer bibs so I can't comment on Groundeffects knicks. She also has the female equivalent ofr the winter clothing. She just made me a copy of the Frosty Boy from WindFoil fleece material from Reverse Garbage. Looks good and even fits me! Cost about 6 hours of her time. We have a few other bits and pieces as well and have always found the products and service A1.
For a couple of winters now I have used a Cadence top, Jetson vest, and Double Happy shorts. I have about a 9km ride in the mornings and evening. In the dead of winter I wear a Polaris wind jacket over the top on the morning ride when the temps are between say 5 and 10C . After 20 minutes I am sweating. As it warms up I change over to a Rock Lobster which is also a great jersey.
Service for GE is excellent - 4-5 days from NZ.

PS. I have a road bike as well now and I must admit I have gone and bought some "road gear" as you do feel fashion challenged on the road bike wearing GE gear - although I see they now have some "roadie" summer gear.
