A mate of mine just split his magnesium frame and Merida replaced it under warranty. A little extra cash and he got a 2006 carbon fibre model.
Now, the seat post supplied was carbon fibre too and has been slipping around in the down tube. He tightened up the clamp so tight to stop it from moving that he even split the seat post.
Anyone else have this problem? All is well, he's replaced it with an aluminium seat post but he found the carbon fibre against carbon fibre slipped a lot and he's only 70 kilo's.

Don't have personal experience, but a mate of mine who rides a full carbon Giant has never had any problem like that, and he's 91kg.
One thing I have read that you could do is use chalk (of the climbing variety, or just scrape some white chalk along sandpaper) to increase the friction between carbon surfaces along your seat post/tube. I use this technique with a carbon post in an Al seat tube, and don't have any problems. Mind you, I am only a lightweight at 60kg.
I think this is Merida specific problem. I haven't heard of it with any other brands... He even got a collar to put on the seat tube to prevent it slipping down, the thing is he still got slip sideways... 🙄
