Question: do you wear a helmet

    - yes i do wear a helmet
    - no helmets are stupid
    - i should wear one but i dont
    - i would never leave without my helmet
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

so i would like to know what kind of helmet you wear because i wear a
cheep skate helmet and after 30 minuites of hard riding i can hardly
see through my sweat. so tell me what helmet is the most protective and
most ventalated for muni and street/trials riding

    I wear a helmet, 661 4x4's, 2x4's, wrist guards, gloves, and ankle
braces. I like to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. I have
more confidence when when I'm protected, but still know my limits. 😄

  3. I have two helmets i useally wear. one is a full face helmet for when
I'm tring new stuff or think i might crash bad. I also have a
bmx/skate helmet I uses when I justgo to ride. out of those two my
    full face is my favorite

  4. I use my regular moutain biking helmet. I only do Muni, hockey and a
bit of road riding, no trials. Bike helmets are much cooler
(temperature wise) than sk8 helmets but they can't take very many
knocks. Depends on the sort of muni you do, really. If you fall off a
lot and occasionally land on your head then you need a skate style
helmet, if you are doing cross country without too many falls then an
    MTB one is probably better.

  5. a very well vented full-face. it has saved me (head, face, & teeth)
more than a few times so far. but i use a Giro bike helmet for normal
riding. sk8 would be better for back-of-head protection, but i like
the visor on bike helmets. probably a real mtb helmet would be a good
    solution.

remember the helmet isn't to help u ride better - rather it is to help
you get back up after an accident.

  6. There are headbands and similar products that you wear under the helmet
to absorb and redirect the sweat. They're made from CoolMax and
similar fabrics. The tail in back on some of them is to give the sweat
a place to evaporate away from your eyes and face. A selection of such
headbands is 'here at Performance Bicycle' (http://tinyurl.com/ezlem).

Try wearing one of those under the helmet. Try them on at a bike shop
first to see how they fit under your helmet. It will depend on your
helmet as to which style will fit best.

  7. I used to wear a skate type helmet. It was very hot and uncomfortable.

I recently bought a Bell Metropolis helmet. The Metropolis has lots of
vents and is much cooler. It also fits MUCH BETTER than the skate type
helmet. The ventilation and better fit have motivated me to wear the
new helmet more often. I really like the Metropolis helmet.

(I got it on sale from JensonUSA.com for $56 and free shipping. 🙂 )

  8. I got a new Giro Xen helmet. It is billed as a fusion of skate and MTB.
Construction is light and airy like MTB but shaped low in back like
skate and it has a visor. I really like it, cool, comfy and
camouflaged!! And the extra protection is nice.

  9. i wear a regular bike helmet as well, because that's what i have. it's
really good for ventilation, and since i wear glasses, i use the visor
    a lot because i can't wear sunglasses.

however, i don't hit my head a lot. i kinda did once, and now there's
a tiny crack in the helmet. i should replace it, but it's a lot of
    money...

  10. if you want a skate helmet, get a pro-tec. They are really nicer. They
are kinda hot, but if you wear a sweatband, helmet liner, or buff, it
    won't get in you way.

I'm the same with a cheap skate helmet... it get's really hot but I
    suck it up.

tbh I'm not sure if I'll ever hit my head but I wear my helmet
everytime because my daughters are always watching and I want to show
an example... even to other kids that helmets are good.
