Thanks for the additional photo links. Did you read the citation on that
last photo? Amazing. From the look of the chain ring, it only engages
with every second or third link in the chain.

As an aside there is a bike collector in Sydney who regularly rides his
wooden-rimmed Malvern Star around in Centennial Park. The vintage bikes
in Spit Cyclery are all his as well.

Charlie & Paul are now organising swapmeets at the collection, and if you ask *very nicely* they will open up the collection for private viewings. We had a viewing back in May for YarraBUG, and had a excellent attendance despite the shtty weather that evening.

That's because it uses the early 'block' chain - every second link is a
solid block of steel so no point in trying to get a tooth to engage it.

I think to remember that there is a wooden bicycle in a the window of
a shop (I don't remember the name) at the QVB in Sydney.
