Stuck BB

Thanks, I think that will do it. My BB tool isn't quite the same but I can make that concept work!

Well, I spent much of today working on a stuck BB on an old MTB. After several hours off and on, a pipe wrench, loads of WD40, and a rubber mallet, I finally got it. Thanks for the tips.

The problem in my case is that a screw in the bottom of the tube that holds the BB was too long. It was jammed into the BB. I ended up taking it to my LBS and they had a BB tool with a really long handle and with a couple of us holding the bike they got it off. Then I saw the BB was all torn up on the outside. I shortened the screw and now my BB works so much better. It must have been cocked in the tube or something.

Upon further inspection, I think mine was locked up due to some goo or sports drink that solidified on the threads of the BB. No matter what the cause, it's off (and a "new" one is installed.....)
