  1. Schwinn floor pump, at least 20 years old. Local shops
all laugh when I ask for a replacement gasket. Maybe
someone has one that will fit:

barrel i.d. is ~32mm, top flat washer ~31mm, bottom
    curved washer is ~23mm.

or maybe someone can suggest material (and a source for
    same) to make a replacement.

    TIA, Ken

Leather. Get some and experiment. Will not take long
before you have an excellent long-lasting replacement.

Sometimes, all that is needed is some oil on the leather to restore
    proper operation. Note I said "sometimes" - I don't know about a 20
    year old pump.

I have one in my shop which I would happily trade for an interesting
souvenir (possibly cycling-related) of your town. It might be a bit on
the large side, so your first and best choice would be to buy a
replacement of the exact size, if available, from some other shop.

Otherwise, drop a line with your address.

Bet it's the same as one in a Silca floor pump-we have those.

I've witnessed my grandfather cut up an old shoes/boots for such a
purpose. He seemed to have pretty good luck using a piece from the tongue.

Just get a piece of chrome-tanned leather (commonly used for shoes and
boots) about the same thickness as the old gasket. Take the old pump gasket
off and flatten it out. Lay it on your piece of new leather and use it as a
pattern (or use some other circular object of approximately the same
diameter or a bit larger) to cut out your new gasket. Cut out a central
hole, soak the leather in motor oil, then assemble it as the old one was
assembled. You'll have to bend the edges down after assembly as you fit it
into the pump body, but this will be the only time you should feel at all
challenged during this whole process. To keep this new gasket in good
shape, you may want to disassemble your pump annually and re-oil the
    leather.
