Just in case any of you are interested, a brief note on the death of my PC, Marvin. It died big
time, hardware failure suspected, probably the PSU but the mobo is also fried and the smoke has been
let out of the CPU. While Marvin is fixed (I thought I'd pay someone else to do the easter-egging
for a change) I have bitten the bullet and upgraded Zaphod to Red Hat 9.0, installed Leafnode and
sundry other Useful Tools, and am now rebuilding my net.life in a Bill-free environment. The Mac,
Arthur, will also figure in this.
I use Lotus Notes and Domino a lot; the Notes client is not reliable under wine (it red-boxes all
the time) but the client and designer both run native on the Mac.
I have no access to my archives of mail, news or documents at the moment. If Marvin proves to be
beyond salvation I will restore them from tapes and other sources, in as much as I can.
Meanwhile, I'll be a bit less visible than I have been for a short while - because it's taking me a
while to learn all the new mystic incantations to do things I used to know how to do ;-)

Marvin is dead, long live Zaphod!
