  1. OK, let me preface this letter with known facts-not intended to elicit
compassion; rather a foundation for some brain storming, if that's what it
takes. 2 years back I was a triplegic, and confined to a wheelchair. When
Hospice was called in, as my diaphragm was being affected and I was fighting
to breathe, I began fighting the idea of being dead in 6 months. "mind over
body" I call it, and I know that sounds trite, but I'm nearly whole, again.
This was the 3rd major setback, in my body building life. I've managed to
rebuild my muscles from ribbons over bone to average proportions. My goal
is to increase my chest measurements, which means-increasing the size of my
lats, rebuilding my quads and calves. Yeah, I have residual weakness on the
left side of my body, but have increased the size of all those muscles to
the point; visually both sides look symetrical. Now, you gents who want to
poke fun at any of the above, go ahead! Anyone, who is serious about
helping, ask about what you need to know, if I haven't mentioned it, or
    please advise me.

I'm always, Frank P.S. In answer to another question-yes, I am totally
    blind. No, I'm not joking.

Doing heavy core exercises, especially working heavy legs can, believe
it or not, help with upper body development.

Diet is important as mentioned ad nauseum. ;-)

Squats, deadlifts, flat and incline bench and military presses, and I
also personally like t-bar rows for back.

I presume you have a voice reader for your computer. I know my mac has
that feature built in using OS-X. I just don't have it activated.

    Good luck!

Jeez, and I've been complaining that my new kettlebell is wearing
holes in my hands... That's some story.

Ok, I am quite possibly the least experienced mfw regular, and I am
generally more concerned about athletic performance than how I look in
the mirror, but I'll give it a shot. I did a stint where I followed
one of Chad Waterbury's 10x3 programs, and I liked it enough that I
recommend it to folks that are looking to add muscle mass. There are
several variations of the 10x3 program. The one I tried was geared
towards fat loss (because I still need to lose some fat).

If you are looking for a complete program that tells you what to do
every day for a month and that is designed at helping you look better
in the mirror then this is a pretty good place to start. This workout
is not the sort of thing that I generally recommend for newbies, but
it sounds like you have been lifting for a while.

Even if you don't like the 10 sets of 3 reps format the exercises
chosen for this workout are solid. The two weight training days
consists of Day 1: deadlifts, chin-ups or pulldowns, barbell front or
hack squats, dips or decline bench, and Day 2: back squats, bent-over
rows, Romanian deadlifts, and standing military presses. In my
opinion these exercises work well together.

  4. Good Job Frank!!

I am also trying now for almost a year to regularly workout 3-4x a week
.. I had a liver transplant 13 mos ago. I do a total body workout with
all basic compound movements. I've gained 23 lbs in a year. When i flex
my stomach muscles with a ll the scars and the way the muscles grew
back -the stomach look like a crushed soda can with all in indents
    going every which way!!

Thank you for the words on your blindness. It's safe to say that, in
many ways, I'm a cynic. Still, what's up with EVERY bone in your back?
Someone get him to dish on that subject, please.

And I'd be curious about the cause of his blindness as well. That is
one sense that I would not want to lose. It's incredible how people
    overcome all manner of adversity.

P.S. Boyer Coe, I'm guessing, would love to thank Frank for his kind
    words. D'OH!

Okay, a goal. We can work with a goal.

Your goal is to get bigger. That's simple. Eat more.

I think you also mentioned belonging to Food Addicts Anonymous and
wanting to lose 3 pounds to be at ideal body fat percentages. That's
not the same as getting bigger. That's about body recomposition.

There's a great forum filled with kind and thoughtful people called
http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/. Perhaps those are the saviors you
    are seeking.

You mentioned being 57, right? I might also suggest you have your
testosterone levels checked and see if you can get a prescription to
treat it whether or not they're considered low.

You mean like the High Guru, Lyle "Mr. Cuddles" McDonald? 😄

Maybe he should read some old MFW posts from folks like Lyle or
Cycomiko before he buys into that one.

    "Saviors you are seeking"?????

Are you getting all metaphysical and new agey on us Dally?

Or just sending this poor guy to his doom in a particulary mean spirited

Maybe in your Universe. Its a little more complicated, Wendell.

Unless there is also an increase in LBM. That is reffered to as getting
"bigger" despite the fact that the body is "smaller."

If testosterone is between 10-15 Nmol/liter, according to the good old doc,
thats normal. What is there to be treat? The doctor will tell him, in a
polite manner of course, to [censored]. Do you really think he wiil get a
script for test because he wants to change his appearance?

Best option, wrt to getting a script for testosterone, is to inject test
prop for 6 weeks, and visit the doc the beginning of week 8. This will work
    sometimes...
