"Brown Sugar" Strawberries?

  1. My local Kroger was selling these for $2 a lb and I got some.

    They are soooo sweet, they taste already sugared. I had inhaled two big ones
    before I started wondering how they did that.

    Are these things genetically engineered or what? We are talking about fresh
    strawberries in the usual plastic things with the little green leafy beanies
    on, that you wash and drain and slice.

    Anyone?

  2. They sound tasty. It's not a variety I've heard of, so I can't answer.
    However, most produce has a PLU number on it - either a sticker on the
    fruit itself or a number on the container. If the number begins with an
    8 the produce is genetically engineered. What's the number on those
    strawberries?

    after you wash the 'berries dip them in sour cream and then brown
    sugar...very, very good.
