I was going to have pasta with pesto and garlic bread but the produce
market had "almost weightless" $1.69 a celophane wrapped bunch of basil!
Not even a cup. Compared to the usual $.79 for a enough to get two cups of
leaves.
So it's tuna-salad melts and a few sips of pinot grigio.

I mixed up some say 1/4 bottle of Italian salad dressing and say 2 or 3
tbsps of Maggi sauce...Got 5 jumbo mushrooms destemed and cut in half, a
1/2 a large red bell pepper, a sweet red pepper both cut into fair (not
fall thru thru the grill) sized chunks and a zucinni bisected then cut
into planks.
I marinated the veggies in the salad dressing mix while the grill got to
temp. And while they cooked I brushed them with the leftover marinade.
I grilled 2 pork steaks to go with the veggies...I used a cumin, garlic
powder, onion powder, oregano, summer savory spice mix as a rub.
(1 part of both onion and garlic powder, 1/2 part of both cumin and
oregano and 1/4 part summer savory) Its fairly good But I think it needs
either some dill or ground mustard seeds or real cinnamon (not casa) as
well. I lean more/most towards trying the cinnamon.
Was quite tolerable supper was...Really it is two meals...Tonight's
supper and Saturday at work's lunch... as I work this weekend.
Had dental work today so I needed a easy meal.
Sweet red peppers are new to me...They look long and cone-like similar
to a chile pepper... but aren't at all hot, but are fairly sweet in
taste. Kinda look like 'what up here we call' pickling peppers (which are
a little hot and a kinda mild green in colour) so I was expecting a
little kick from the sweet red peppers.

I brought my dinner to work with me tonight: I made a bunch of sushi rice
and divided it evenly between two containers. I added a layer of spinach, a
layer of tuna, and a layer of cucumber slices to one container, then lightly
drizzled it with sesame oil. The other container got a layer of sushi rice,
a layer of cucumber batons, a layer of tuna mixed with mayo, a layer of baby
corn, and then the whole thing got a zigzag of Sriracha sauce
(www.kgrocer.com/ProductImages/spice_paste/1335_default.jpg).
That last one was based on the recent mention of tuna and corn as a pizza
topping combination. We'll see...

Fish balls in lobster sauce on arctic soft flatbread.
I bought it all at Ikea.
I wish I hadn't.
The fish balls had the texture of gummy matzoh balls, and the lobster
sauce had the texture of fake cheese dip. The flatbread was
interesting, very soft, almost quilty. But it had too much sugar in
it.
I tried to make the mess palatable by putting pepper on it, but it
laughed at my attempt to spice up swedish cuisine.
At least the chocolate-coated crispy cookies were good.

Have you ever consdired growing your own basil (from seeds?)? It's very easy
and saves a lot of money.

Jke,
I'd farm basil were it not for the deer eating everything but tree bark,
practically! 🙁
All the best,

Window sill!
There's more than one produce market around these parts. It's just a PITA
to "pitch a shopping no-hitter" at the same one, if you know what I mean.
Andy
over here we get most of our fresh herbs in a growing pot..... very
rarely these days do you buy cut herbs, so its great you can have all
these great herbs growing on your kitchen window sill for a very cheap
price and they last a long time too.... as long as one remembers to
water them **sigh** lol
For dinner last night we had smoked chicken melts ....... i made up a
mix of smoked chicken , spring onions, mushrooms, feta cheese, blue
vein cheese and topped it with some colby cheese to melt , on top of
lovely seeded grain bread it was lovely , my darling and i are not very
well at the moment ..... winter colds and coughs are all around us , so
we didnt really feel like something too heavy .
Tonight Im making roasted Lamb Shanks, with Roasted potatoes, roasted
pumpkin, baked onions, brusselsprouts , ..... flavouring the meat with
fresh rosemary, basil and thyme and baking very slowly in the oven
mmmmmmmmmm yummo one of my favourite meals

I know what you mean. It's like when my supermarket ran ot of mushrooms
today. I wanted them so badly I actually considered buying canned. But then
I came to senses.

My balcony is filled with potted herbs to the extent I
can't use the cbalcony for anything else 🙂
