  1. Steven was off today and we had lunch at our fave Mexican joint. This is
an exaggeration but I think we ordered one of everything on the menu. I am
*stuffed* and Steven is drunk as a skunk. I don't know how many top shelf
margs he downed, but it was way more than a normal human could handle. We
were there almost 4 hours. We had fajitas, beef and chicken enchiladas,
every sauce one can imagine. We had chips, salsas, queso you name it. I'm
about to explode AND I had to drive home. Steven is passed out in the den.
My brined chicken is still in the fridge staring at me. It's got to be
    cooked soon.

How does one get drunk from margaritas? Did he have them on the
rocks? Those crushed ice concoctions are just stupid.

Its extremely complicated. A given amount of alcohol still has the same
    potency when diluted..

Reminds me of our neighborhood 4th of July celebration a few years
ago...It was a really hot day & we all spent the day sprawled in the
shade, noshing, enjoying one another's company. One of the guys kept
wandering inside, whipping up blenders of the best damned margaritas
we'd ever had... really hit the spot on a hot day & we went through
gallons - just sucked them up like lemonade. Made from some "secret"
recipe he'd come up with, they didn't taste particularly boozy, but
were actually about 3/4 tequila. Thank God none of us were driving.

Long story short, we never made it to the town fireworks
display...heck, some of us didn't make it through dinner...my memory is
a wee bit fuzzy, but I distinctly remember one neighbor (a rather
distinguished physicist) taking an impromptu nap in his plate of
strawberry pie. Drunk as a skunk. By 9PM folks were dropping like
flies. Nobody moved very far, very fast the next morning, but we sure
had one hell of a good time.

Can you get wasted on "those crushed ice concoctions?" Oh, yeah.

Hmmmmmm, you've obviously *never* had one of my 'Kaateella' Margaritas!!
    :-)

(Mmmmmmmmmmmm, memories of NYE 2000, me as bartender at my own cocktail
party, and a congo line of women coming up to the bar to flash their
boobies at me to get a margarita :-)

That's my favorite kind of meal. I could eat Mexican food for every
meal every day and not get tired of it. Same with the Margies, but I
can't drink any more, either. 😉

By my calculations, one drink taken anytime before 4pm is 1 1/2 to 2 times
more potent than those consumed after 4pm.

Anecdotal.... maybe, but I see this a lot. (self included)

    but -- but -- it's always five o'clock somewhere!

Personally, I don't like drinking in the afternoons. With or after dinner is
fine, but drinks and lunch just make me groggy.

Michael and Steven weren't working today, a rare thing for both of them at
the same time, IIRC 🙂 I've never understood how people (usually executive
types) could go to lunch and down a few martinis while talking "business"
and still manage to be talking, let alone about business, by the time lunch
    was over. LOL

Doesn't matter if I'm working or not, I just don't like the groggy feeling I
get, usually with the undercurrent of a headache coming right behind it. I
don't get like that in the evening, or maybe it's because by the time that
hits, I'm headed for bed anyway, so groggy is ok.

I used to have a sales job, and my boss was a two-drink-with-lunch kind of
guy. I hated when he decided to come with me to take customers for lunch.
He'd insist that I had a drink, and I'd tell him that if he insisted, I was
going to go home after the lunch because he didn't want me seeing other
customers while I was giddy or groggy.

Well, one of our Directors was not so clever. Years ago I worked for an
engineering company and the "sales managers" and a few of the
"directors" always went to the (same) pub every lunch time. One time Mr
F___ had one too many, got up on the table to dance and had his forehead
sliced open by the overhead fan. (He was well over 6 feet tall). Can't
remember how many stitches he had. Took him months to live it down.

It was no big deal. His yearly get drunk thing. It was not planned it just
was. I had to push him off to work this morning. Thankfully he has just
desk work to do. No big issues to solve.

True... and I always serve on the rocks.
Crushed ice ones hurt my teeth! ;-o

I mix them this way as I'm trying to keep down the sugar:

    2 shots tequila
1 shot triple sec (or grand marnier if you are using GOOD tequila)
    Juice from one whole lime
    Juice from 1/2 lemon

(I really like mine [censored] <G>😉

Pour into a 12 to 16 oz. glass over small ice cubes.

Fill rest of glass with sugar free lemon cool-aid.

    Seriously.

Lemon cool-aid made with splenda has a nice bitterness that goes well as
a margarita mix. I find the commercial ones to be too sweet.

For those that like it sweeter, just add extra sweetener to taste.

I do not salt the rim of the glass. I just don't like them that way.
Decorate the edge of the glass with a lime slice.......
