My wife bought me these little sugar free hard candies. Chocolate & caramel creme flavor. They are sooooo delicious that I was supspicious. I look on the back and see that they have 13 carbs! It's all sugar alcohol, but still seems way way too high for such a small candy. It took me 2 weeks of avoiding them to go back and read that the serving size is 5 pieces! For 2 1/2 carbs each I recommend them highly.

I dont eat candy anymore but I do recall you can subtract the sugar alcohols from the carb count on these kinds of things. Laureen

If the particular sugar alcohol is isomalt, that's the one that goes to war with my stomach. I remember something about how the label on some hard candies or cough drops said "excessive consumption may have a laxative effect" and it turned out that for me, excessive consumption = one piece of candy. So if you end up with stomach distress, consider those candies your primary suspect. Just a heads up.
I don't usually have much of a problem with the SF candies, but I can tell you...one go around with those SF Creme Savers was enough for a lifetime. :-)

If you recommend them, please tell us what they are. You didn't give a product name. Nor did you say where we could buy them.

They sell them pretty much anywhere they sell bagged candy: grocery stores, drug stores, convenience stores and the like. Isomalt causes me no problem, but in this thread a couple of people said it causes them stomach misery so YMMV as usual.
I don't usually have much of a problem with the SF candies, but I can tell you...one go around with those SF Creme Savers was enough for a lifetime. :-)
That's too bad. One med I take gives me cottonmouth and those and the SF Pep-o-Mint LifeSavers help a great deal. My sugar alcohol kryptonite is lactitol. Isomalt doesn't even cause gas for me, while lactitol made me feel like there were knives trying to slice their way out of my stomach. The sugar alcohols are highly variable in their effect on each individual, aren't they. I'm surprised to find isomalt causes some of you problems. I was wandering around thinking it was benign for all. Oops.

I got some Thinnie Tinnie Myntz in the grocery store checkout lane (don't remember which store though). They have sorbitol and a very strong flavor so a couple go a long way toward putting a nice taste in the mouth.

Ah, I recognize them now. Didn't recognize the "Thinnie Tinnie" part. :-) Thanks. I've had the vanilla sort and enjoyed them. The green tea with ginseng sound interesting. I always have mints and gum in my purse because of the dry mouth problem, and have tried a lot of different mints. So far the LifeSavers Pep-o-Mints are the winners. The SF type are nice and strong.
They also have them in some of the dollar stores. A package (which lasts me forever, I only eat one every few days) for a buck is a good deal 🙂. -- Sherry 364/290/195 LC since 4/4/05; eating LC but not for weight loss since 4/1/06

CREME SAVERS..... sugar free by Lifesavers. In the thread title. WOW I'm amazed at how the different sweetners affect some of you so strongly. My wife can't handle the smallest amount of any of them, with Maltitol the worst, where I am rarely affected at all. The key as in most things, is moderation. Try one of these little beauties, they are amazing!

Aren't sugar alcohol numbers subtracted to get net carbs? If it is all sugar alcohol - then the net carb would be close to 0???
In the subject line - it says SF Creme Savers - that is more than likely the product name.

Correct but I was counting all the real carbs anyway to figure out where they were all coming from.
