  1. Hi all,

I'm running this Sunday's Central Park race, the Father's
    Day/Anti-Prostate Cancer 5 miler.

    Any others doing it?

    Andy

Sorry, not this year. I'm gonna check out a (presumably) low key 5k in
Prospect Park this Wednesday evening instead, put on by Prospect Park
    TC (http://www.pptc.org/pptccal/index.php?all=1).

And then in a couple weeks another weeknight Prospect Park 5k on the
27th, "Run Until the Violence Stops". That one's put on by NYRR so
    presumably much bigger.

Have you been training well? Taking it easy? Got a specific goal for
this 5 miler, just looking to enjoy it? Got anything else pencilled in
    this summer?

Good luck in your races. Are you doing any trail races?

It has been 10+ years since I've done a Central Park race. It will be
interesting to go through all that again.

Training pretty well and putting in miles but just getting the feel for
my old self again. Getting under 29 would be sweet and I think I have a
better than even shot. It all depends on how I handle the hills.

  5. I'll keep an eye out for you. Are you Flyers, CPTC or Greater NY? I get
    them all mixed up.

    Whatcha think you'll run?

Trail races appeal but as you're aware, they're in short supply here in
NYC. You're in Long Island or Westchester, aren't you? Got trail
    races out there?

I've got no races on the calendar yet between the Boilermaker and NYCM,
and will probably get out of town some during that span, so we'll see.

Good luck. I think the course avoids the worst of the terrain (which
may be "flat" by Alaskan standards but it's surely unwelcome in the
middle of a hard 10k) at the north end of the park, no? If so, that's
    gotta help.

Splitting time between LI and New Paltz.

There is a great 20k trail race up in Minnewaska State Park the same
day as the NYCM. There are a bunch of other races up that way but
    nothing longer than 10 miler.

Hope you don't bake getting your long runs in.

Thankfully the course uses the 108 cutoff, so I'm grateful for anything
    I can get.

    Thanks,

27:45-28:15 (about that, but who knows ? depends on weather).

GNY, bright loud yellow. Bib 2263.

  9. Anti-prostate?

    Is Andy short for Andrea?

If it is, he's lucky to be a woman: his projected time would probably
make him first or second woman overall, based on last year's results.

OTOH they don't award women any prize money for this race so he'd be
    SOL in that regard.
