Tyres are more critical than wheels. Let us know what what sort tyres you have, the originals? Try Conti GP 4000 or if you want cheaper try Conti Ultragator skin sliks

Train harder for increased speed. After only 4 months your engine is going to be the key factor. That said better tires would be my pick if you are bound and determined to spend money, but don't expect some magic bullet to increase speed.

If you're also talking about climbing speed, one thing you can change and actually save money is your body weight. And you will also see fairly rapid progress.😉 TYSON

At this point you'll see the most dramatic effects by simply training. Save your money for now. Do you have clipless pedals/shoes? What kind of riding/events do you do, and are you training for anything in particular, or just fun?

  6. Just train harder and the rewards are sweeter, more than a pair of wheels! 🙂

  7. A smarter financial decision would be to just save money for a few months and get a whole new bike, instead of dropping $500-$600 on new wheels for a $700 bike. I'm currently on a Trek 1000, and must say that there is absolutely no point in upgrading anything, because everything is just too low end to be worth the money.
