Cycleschemes?

You don't really get a choice of scheme unless you can influence your
employer's decision making. If your employer hasn't an arrangement for the
salary sacrifice with someone, you are stuffed (or condemned to a campaign
to get them to sign up for a scheme).

With a big employer, such as the NHS, they either have a scheme, or have
decided that "cycling is dangerous and we don't want to put our staff at
risk" (to paraphrase one large company's reply).

Why? If your employer hasn't already made an arrangement, you are in
the glorious position of being able to influence the arrangement.

The employer does not have to sign up to any pre-defined scheme - they
simply have to give you a bike. If the employer wants to make that
conditional on a salary sacrifice, they simply need to make the
appropriate modifications to your contract of employment.

having read the gumph I'm not sure if I CBA to spend several days of
e-mails and form filling for the sake of £100 ;-(

Indeed. My employer was setting up our scheme with Halfords but took
the radical step of asking cyclists before signing up! Result is that
we will soon have a scheme with Evans instead. As we have over 10.000
employees in the UK, this makes a big difference. Unfortunately, I'll
be leaving before it starts.
