I got my Talas RLC on the Epic on Friday and got it out for a good ride on Saturday (did Upper loop to the ski area, and then Snodgrass and back to my buddy's house on Upper Loop again). Boy, there sure is a lot of difference from 80mm to 130mm (50mm by my exhaustive calculations!). All that extra travel makes the bike handle differently and so far I think I like it. Technical climbs are harder, but I think I have some tuning to do that would help. The extra squish sure is nice when bombing a rough DH. I'll need to time to make a full evaluation and get it all dialed in for my riding style, but the first impressions are that it tracks very well and is extremely laterally stiff. Nice! Now I'm going to put the old 80mm Black Elite Air on my SS because I have to return the IF rigid fork to it's owner. I love how that rigid fork climbs, but it rattles my bad shoulder a bit more that I'd like on the descents. I think the Black will be a good match for that bike.

Use the travel adjust for technical climbs. Set to 80mm the fork sets down lower steepening the head angle which helps the wheel to track uphill. Jack it up to 130 for the trip down. The suspension feels (compression and rebound damping) the same at either setting thanks to the Talas cartridge.
It's truly an awesome fork and by far the best air fork I've ever ridden (and that's a bunch). It feels to me like a coil fork.
