Jeff
hope you heal quick Jeff. Out of curiosity how did you break it ???
Was it an exciting incident, or did you break changing channels with
the remote control ?
Details are sketchy , the handlebars are broken at the stem and the
front wheel is out of true. Not sure which is a cause and which is an
effect, suspect that the handlbars have broken. Alloy bars.
I am a bit surprised but saw Henk Vogels in a similar accident in a crit
race a couple of years ago in Perth.
I have face planted on the left side , motorist found me unconcious ,
apparently there for about 30 minutes, on the side of the road about 12
klms from Northam(WA) , needed stitches just above the eye where the
frames of my glasses have planted themselves , broken collarbone and
various patches of skin off, suffering withdrawal from riding.
The withdrawal is the hardest to deal with.
Intend getting on the Windtrainer tomorrow to maitain some sanity.
Have lurked ib a.b for a number of years and have been sypathetic to the
riding hazrds you guys suffer in the city and how relatively easy we
get it in the rural ares - rednecks are the biggest danger when you are
dressed in bright lycra , but we have our own unique problems due to the
lack of traffic.Only now realise some of them , strong case for those
little flashing LED's on helmets in case you do come off on the road.
Lady who found me rang the hospital next day to see how
i was and to confirm she had looked after my bike , then dropped it off
the next day at work. Reassures your faith in human nature.
Appreciate you interest and allowing me an excuse to tell the story .
