  1. Hi,

Can anyone tell me whether I have to use a quick release skewer with
    the Tacx Swing?

Please excuse my ignorance, but my wheels do not have quick release
mechanisms, so I do not know if I can use it with the Tacx equipment.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. The TACX qr has a special shape and you do need to use it IME.

  3. Thanks D'ohBoy

Sorry again for my ignorance, I'm not really into biking (shock!), but
would I have to change my wheel completely to make this work?

Wheel must accept a QR. Yes, you would have to change your wheel (if
    it is solid axle/nutted).

P.S.: Be careful with that top-posting - they shoot people around here
    for much less ;-)

Wrong. Tacx sells nuts that you can use with their trainers if the rear
hub doesn't use a quick release. A simple solution to a simple problem.

Thanks a lot for your help D'ohBoy.

LOL, sorry about that (I hope this reply is in the right place!!)

D'oh! Thanks for the correction (and I'm sure the OP is too!).

    Antti Salonen,

Thats great news, I like simple solutions :-)

Could you recommend a website for these nuts?

    Thanks,

    Al

I don't know where you are, but I would ask any shop that sells Tacx
trainers or tools. Tacx seems to sell two kinds of nuts, depending on
what kind of axle you have:

  10. I'll let my ignorance hang out. I thought you could replace a solid axle
with a hollow one using a quick release. Is that not true? Sometimes true?
    Never true?

    Dear Leo,

For real riding, you can use hollow or solid axles.

But I think that in this thread it's a question of getting the bike to
fit into the Tacx trainer--the axle QR/nuts are used to clamp the
beast into place on the trainer.

Here are the odd solid-axle nuts that Anti linked to:

Click on the picture to enlarge them, and you'll see they're kind of
    weird.

    Cheers,
