1. Hello,

This might sound like a stupid question but I am new to cycling so here it goes.

I just bought a new pair of those padded cycling lycra shorts that a lot of cyclists wear. I can't really tell if they are designed to be worn with underwear, or whether you should slip them on with nothing underneath. Is this personal preference or are tehy meant to be worn a certain way?

    Thanks

  2. I always just assumed no underwear. I had that question like a year ago when I got into it so I tried it both way. Definitely not meant to be worn with anything underneath.

  3. The padding besides providing comfort also absorbs the perspiration, if you wear underwear you retain the perspiration on your skin, the underwear lines also cause chafing along the creases of your but, its far wiser to ride without anything under your shorts, a long T shirt might retain your modesty.🙄

  4. Yes, definitely no underwear. The only thing that should ever be worn between your butt and the chamois is some chamois cream.

  5. I bought some cream and it's a lifesaver. I hadn't ever tried it but at one of my races they had free samples and it's unbelieveable stuff.

The only issue I have with chamy cream is on a cold day, it a pretty uncomfortable feeling down there, cold and clammy at the start

  7. I recently took the plunge and now am a firm believer in bibs. As a result, I don't ever touch the MTB shorts that I bought when I initially started this crazy pastime. I've gotten into jerseys, too.

I went out biking in 93 degree heat (34 C) yesterday in bibs and a jersey and didn't even flinch at the temperature. The sweat just evaporated off of the fabric like it's supposed to.
